How do you play Truth or Dare?

The basic rules for playing Truth or Dare are very easy. Here are the five steps:

1. Prepare the game. The game requires at least three players. There is no limit to the number of people playing. Do you want to play with a large group of family and friends? No problem! Do you want to maintain a more intimate atmosphere, with a small group of friends and family? Also is okay. Just make sure that everyone is comfortable and agrees on what kinds of questions and challenges are off limits.

2. Decide who starts. Choose someone who wants to start the game. Are you the one who wants to start it? or is it someone else?

   You can also let an empty bottle decide who starts. In that case, the youngest person starts spinning the bottle. The neck of the bottle will point to the player who must start.

3. Start Truth or Dare! The starting player is asked: “Truth or Dare”? this player chooses to answer a question truthfully or to do a dare. The other players decide what fun question or dare to ask. Check out our list of fun and challenging questions and challenges below!

4. The next player. The game continues with the next player after the first one has answered or challenged. The group is free to choose the order of the players. Will they take turns in a circle, or can the current player choose who goes next, or will they let the bottle choose who goes next?

If it is your turn and you choose ‘Truth’ then you must answer a question truthfully. Get ready to answer embarrassing questions, because no one wants you to pass it off lightly! Also, lying is not an option. Well you could try, but obviously it would spoil the fun of the game.

If it is your turn and you choose ‘Challenge’ then you have to do some activity or challenge. Again, don’t do anything you don’t like. Of course you also don’t want to be too timid and change all the challenges you are given. But always remember to change the challenge if you really feel too uncomfortable. Try to keep the game fun for everyone, no matter the age!

There are many ways to play this game. You can make your own rules. If you want to spice up the traditional game, here are some options:

Are you afraid of challenges?

Imagine that someone is intimidated by a challenge they are given. It is possible, some have limits on what things they dare to do. Still, don’t let them get away. Instead, the other players will be able to choose another difficult challenge that they can do. And the person who was intimidated will have to choose one of those to do it.

Question and challenge!

Many people are afraid to choose a challenge, so they continually choose questions, which are relatively easy. No more. In this version of the game players will no longer be able to choose between ‘truth’ or ‘dare’, but alternate between the two. They won’t get away from this!

always feel comfortable

There is one rule that should always be applied in Truth or Dare games: you should never feel pressured to do things you don’t want to. Are you uncomfortable answering a question or doing a task? Just ask for a new one.

And remember, it’s always smart to put down some rules before you start the game, like:
