A few months ago , Raquel del Rosario, singer of El Sueno de Morfeo , was surprised when she recounted how a cougar had attacked her son in the garden of her house, in California, how a cougar had attacked her son in the garden of her house, and how she gambled to save him. Well, it seems that these cats are not as far from civilization as we think, because another of them has caused another incident.

Of course, this time without causing any scratch to anyone. It has been in Brazil, in a school in Nova Lima (state of Minas Gerais), in the southeast of the country. David Almeida, a 9-year-old boy, was at the school because he had gone to play a soccer game and felt like going to the bathroom. It was then that inside one of the individual cabins he found a puma that greeted him with growls.

“I was shaking like jelly. It was hearing the “grrr” and my heart almost stopped,” the boy told local journalists. After the surprising encounter, David went in search of his father, who was scared to see that it was a puma weighing 80 kilos and two and a half meters long. “The moment I saw that the animal was that size, I ran back, explained his father, Rodrigo.

After calling the emergency services, they showed up at the school and tried to calm the animal, which was a female, until the firefighters locked the bathrooms to prevent her from escaping. They then opened a hole in the roof and sedated the cougar with tranquilizer darts so they could capture it and take it away in an adapted vehicle.

After passing a veterinary evaluation, which certified that the animal was unharmed and healthy, it was released into the wild. It appears that cougars and other wildlife are moving closer to civilization due to increased deforestation and wildfires, which are destroying their natural habitat.
