There, sitting and without moving, she said good morning , slowly watching the trees, animals, houses, lakes and children light up and fill with colors thanks to the sun’s rays.

Story 4. ‘A little hole in the moon’

An old legend tells that in a time of great heat the great snowy mountain lost its snow cover, and with it all its joy. Its streams dried up, its pines died, and the mountain was covered with a sad gray rock . The Moon, then always full and bright, wanted to help her good friend. And since he had a lot of heart but very little brain , the only thing he could think of was to make a hole at its base and blow softly, so that a small part of the magical white powder that gave it its shine would fall on the mountain in the form of soft snow. .

Once opened, no one was able to cover that hole. But the Moon didn’t care. She continued to blow and, after several nights emptying herself , she lost all her white powder. Without him she was so empty that she seemed invisible, and the nights became completely dark and sad. The mountain, saddened, wanted to return the snow to her friend From her. But, since it was impossible to make it snow upwards, it caught fire inside until it became a volcano. Her fire turned the snow into thick white smoke that rose up to the moon, filling it in a little each night, until it looked completely round and bright again . But when the snow ran out, and with it the smoke, the hole was still open in the Moon, forced again to share her magic until completely emptied .

He was traveling in the hope of finding another mountain ready to become a volcano, when he discovered a town in dire need of his magic. She didn’t have the strength to stop her generous heart, and she blew on them, filling them with happiness until she extinguished herself . It seemed that the Moon would not shine again but, like the mountain, the grateful people also found a way to make it snow up. Just like the next ones did, and the next ones, and the next ones…

And so , each month, the Moon generously distributes itself around the world until it disappears, knowing that in a few days its friends will find a way to fill it with light again.
